Welcome back everyone! I hope that you had a restful break and are ready to kick off the second semester!
Your child will be receiving course offering forms this week. Please circle the courses that your child is interested in taking next year. Sign and return that form by Thursday 1/9/25 to the main office.
Homecoming is next week. Mr. Grady will be sending an email to all students with important information regarding homecoming.
Please remember the new exam exemption policy for high school students.

The deadline to re-enroll your student for the 2025-2026 school year is TODAY. Please be sure to complete this form by December 17th to secure your student's seat. After December 18th, your student's seat may be placed in the 2025-2026 enrollment lottery held on January 16th, 2025. If your child IS NOT returning for the 2025-2026 school year, please complete the 2025-2026 withdrawal form. Thank you!

12/16-12/20 Weekly Update

12/16/2024

The deadline to re-enroll your student for the 2025-2026 school year is Tuesday, December 17th. Please be sure to complete this form to secure your student's seat. After December 18th, your student's seat will be placed in the 2025-2026 enrollment lottery held on January 16, 2025.
The end of the second quarter is Tuesday. Grades will be finalized on Wednesday for families to check S1 grades.
Students will begin Winter Break on Wednesday 12/18. The first day of the second semester is Monday, January 6th.

12/9-12/13 weekly Update

12/9/2024

There are 7 days left in the first Semester. Parents please encourage your children to use their time wisely and complete missing assignments. Also reach out to your child's teacher to set up times for them to attend Curriculum Assistance from 12:25-12:50.
Middle School Map Testing will be Thursday (12/12) and Friday (12/13) this week. Please have students bring their charged devices for testing those days.
Check-in #2 for Biology will be next Monday (12/16) and Tuesday (12/17).
Thank you to everyone who attended the band concert Friday night. The hard work of each band could be heard in their performances!
The members of the the Girls on the Run team participated in a celebratory 5K on Saturday in Cary. We are proud of those girls who braved the cold weather! A picture of the group who participated is right below!

NCS Cross Country/Winter Track teams came together Saturday, December 7th to support children in the community in a toy drive for Harbor and Johnston County Social Services. The Grinch Stink, Stank, Stunk 5k was held at Smithfield Community Park.

There are only 11 days left in the first semester. Parents please be reminded that attendance and S1 grades are factors for athletic eligibility and grade retentions. Please ensure that your child is doing all they can in these last two weeks to get missing work turned in.
MAP Testing for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades will be next Thursday (12/12) and Friday (12/13).
The next Biology NC Check-in will be Monday 12/16.
Please come out to our Winter Band concert on Friday 12/6. The concert begins at 6:00 PM in the main gym.
The booster Bazzar is this Friday 12/6. Below is the list of vendors that will be here from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM.

11/11-11/15 Weekly Update

Monday 11/11 is Veteran's Day. Please take a moment to discuss with your child the sacrifices that Veterans have made for our country.
English 2 Check-in's will be Thursday 11/14 and Friday 11/15.
Math 1 and Math 3 Check-in's will be Tuesday 11/19 and Wednesday 11/20.
Congratulations to our varsity boys soccer team who won their first round playoff game Friday against Gates County by a score of 3-1. The boys soccer team will play their second round game Tuesday 11/12 at Vance Charter. Kick off is 3:30.
Friendly reminder about the Sadie Hawkins dance this Friday 11/15 from 8-10. Students must bring an item on the Neuse Giving flyer to attend.
Wrestling practice will be Wednesday 11/13 to Friday 11/15. Students must have an updated physical and information in dragonfly to participate.
There will be a Herff Jones Cap and Gown Presentation on campus Friday 11/15 during lunch in room 301. Additionally a Junior Class Ring Presentation will take place in room 209 beginning at 12:25.
Parents, you will be receiving a letter from Dr. Blackwell this week regarding attendance. The data in the letter references our 7th grade check-in's that were completed last week. Please know that attendance is directly tied to your child's ability to perform at a high level in school.

11/4-11/8 Weekly Update

Make up picture day is Monday 11/18.
The University of Mount Olive will be on campus during CA time in Ms. McLamb's room Wednesday this week.
There is a high school and middle school winter sports parent meeting on Thursday from 5:30-6:30 in the main gym.
Seeding for the first round of High School soccer will be on Thursday. The first round playoff game is Saturday.
2nd Quarter Progress Reports come out Friday. Please email your child's teacher if you have any questions about grades.
Middle School Cheerleading tryouts are this Monday and Tuesday in the commons from 3:30-5:00. Please make sure your child has an updated physical and information in Dragonfly.

Sadie Hawkins Dance 11/15

Attention High School Students: We are Having a Sadie Hawkins Dance

The Sadie Hawkins benefit dance will take place in the auxiliary gym on November 15th from 8 to 10 p.m. In partnership with Neuse-Giving, SGA will host a non-profit event to raise donations for families of Neuse Charter School seeking Thanksgiving meals. The booster club will be selling food and beverages for students to enjoy. You can purchase these items inside the event, so bring money!

What is Sadie Hawkins: A Sadie Hawkins is "an event or occasion, typically a school dance, to which female students ask male students to accompany them in a reversal of traditional gender roles."

2025-2026 Lottery Information

NCS is now collecting information on our current students who plan to return for next year. Please complete the Current Student Re-Enrollment Application 2025-26 for EACH current student who wishes to return. Please complete this form by December 17, 2024, to guarantee your student’s seat for next year.

Please note some important information for next year:

If there is a sibling of a current student that you wish to enroll in the sibling lottery, please complete the Lottery Application 2025-26. Please note, if the child listed is found to not be a SIBLING of a current student, any enrollment offer will be rescinded and the student will move to the bottom of the current waitlist at that time.
If you have an incoming kindergartener, 7th grader or 12th grader, please note that these are the years that immunizations are checked and students without appropriate paperwork will be suspended from school after the 30th day. Per G.S. 130A-152 through G.S. 130A-157, please ensure your student has had the following immunizations that are appropriate for your student and that you have submitted them to [email protected]:

Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis/whooping cough [Dtap] – 5 doses
Polio – 4 doses
Measles, mumps, rubella [MMR] – 2 doses
Haemophilus Influenzae type B [Hib] – 1 dose
Hepatitis B [Hep B] = 3 doses

Pneumococcal Conjugate – 1 dose
