Parents, the end of the first 9 weeks is Wednesday, October 9th. There are 13 more instructional days in the first 9 weeks. Please check power school for grades and encourage your children to receive assistance from their classroom teachers during Curriculum Assistance.
This week is Start with Hello week. The Start with Hello club is associated with the Sandy Hook Promise which aims to create a sense of belonging and social connection among youth. There are dress up days to raise awareness for the Start with Hello Club. Additionally, there will be an assembly Friday in the commons for students to attend. The flyer for the days is attached below:

If you are interested in giving back to Neuse Charter, last week our No Fuss Fundraiser began. Attached is the flyer below. Please contact Ms. Harris if you are interested in giving money back to Neuse Charter!

Monday 9/9-Friday 9/13

Parents your child should have received progress reports on Friday. Please contact your child's teacher if they did not get one.
MAP Testing for Middle School students will be Thursday 9/12 and Friday 9/13. Our teachers will use this data to make instructional decisions for each child. Please discuss with your student the importance of giving their best effort.
Parents our Community Night will be Friday 9/13. Teachers will be in their classrooms from 4-6 PM to answer any questions about their classroom. Please come out and meet your child's teachers!
Please help us by displaying your car tags. If you do not have one please contact your child's homeroom teacher!
There will be a Virtual Interest meeting for a trip to Paris, Normandy, and London on September 18 at 6:00 PM. Here is the link for the meeting: https://bit.ly/4eRMs4l

Tuesday 9/3-Friday 9/6

Monday 9/3 is a holiday to celebrate Labor Day! Tuesday 9/4 is a workday for teachers. There is no school in session for students.
Our face to face community night is Friday September 13 from 4:00-6:00 PM. Please come out and meet your child's teachers in person and see what wonderful things they have been up to the first few weeks of school!
The blood drive is 9/3. Please sign up to donate blood if you are able!
Reminder that we check dress code every day and often. The dress code is available for you to review in the Parent Student Handbook.
Locker distribution will begin this week. High school will be on Wednesday 9/4 and middle school will be on Thursday 9/5.
MAP testing for middle school will be Wednesday September 11th and Thursday September 12th.
Congrats to Dr. Bond for placing 3rd in the Johnstonian News Best of Johnston County Teacher Award!

Please remember there is no school Monday 9/2/24 to celebrate Labor Day.
Tuesday 9/3/24 is a Work day for teachers. Students do not attend school.

All donors receive points to select a $30 gift card.
Please do not forget about the middle school parent meeting tonight at 5:30. This is for all members of the middle school volleyball and soccer teams. The meeting will be held in the main gym.

I want to take a moment and thank everyone for a wonderful first week of school. It has been great getting to know your students and we look forward to a successful school year. I wanted to provide a few updates:

This week a power point presentation was reviewed with your student. Crisis Drills, Behavior Expectations, Lunch Procedures, Academic Expectations, Athletics, and Counselor Information were all covered. Please review the power point with your student so everyone is on the same page!
If you bring lunch to school for your child, please take it to the front office. Do not have your child come out of the building to your car to get their lunch. This is a safety concern for us!
Please continue to work with us with car pool by hanging your car tags! If you do not have a car tag, have your child talk with their Homeroom Teacher.
Don't forget to come to Sweet Frog on Friday from 3 PM - 7 PM to support our band program!
We will begin recording tardies this week for discipline purposes. Please review the tardy policy with your student so everyone is on the same page!

Congratulations to Dr. Stephen Bond for being named a top 3 finalist for the Best Teacher in Johnston County! We are so very thankful that Dr. Bond is able to work at our school. Dr. Bond teaches 6th and 7th grade Social Studies. Good luck to Dr. Bond and congratulations on the nomination!

NCS Band recieves Peter R. Marsh Foundation Grant!

Leah Williams, our band director for grades 6-12, received the Peter R. Marsh Foundation grant for $1,250. The grant will be used to buy sheet music for the NCS band program. This grant is a servitude grant meaning the band will do community service by performing for the senior living centers in our community. Congratulations NCS Band!
