The NCS Administration really knows how to "Shake Off" the bullies!
![]() Leah Williams, the elementary school music teacher at Neuse Charter School, has been awarded a “Bright Ideas Grant” called Brain Based Music Integration. Mrs. Williams will receive a check for $3,000, which she intends to use to purchase 25 guitars and keyboard percussion instruments for her classes. Dr. Julie Jailall stated that working on writing a proposal for this grant was one of the first things Mrs. Williams did when she joined Neuse Charter School’s teaching team this fall. Going above and beyond the norm is the “norm” for teachers at Neuse Charter School, Jailall said. The competitive grant project is designed to show how children at the elementary level improve in their brain development and behavioral performance when they are involved in a music program. Specific musical instruments (xylophones and guitars) will be integrated with technology to produce student-created podcasts, plays, and concerts. Wake Electric funded the entire $3,000 Brain Based Music Integration Grant. ![]() Please join us in congratulating Makenna Hammer, NCS Senior, on her runner up finish today in the 1A/2A NCHSAA Eastern Regional Golf Championship. Makenna finished second in a field of 47 and will move on to represent Neuse Charter School in the State championship next week. Makenna's success shows that NCS student athletes can excel, while meeting NCS academic standards. |
