Neuse Charter School middle school students competed in the AMC 8, an American Mathematics Competition.
The AMC 8 is a twenty-five question, forty minute multiple-choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem solving skills. The contest is held in November every year.
The purpose of the AMC 8 is to promote excitement, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward mathematics and to stimulate interest in continuing the study of mathematics beyond the minimum required for high school graduation. There were 1,845 schools worldwide which administered the exam, but Neuse Charter School is the only school in Johnston County, NC currently offering this opportunity.
The top three students from Neuse Charter School were Skyler Dunn, Megan Bruner, and Luke Highfil. We commend the 20 Neuse Charter Middle and Elementary School students who participated in this competition.
